Enabling Country Specific Roaming Restriction (CSRR)

Top  Previous  Next

Descriptions

The Country Specific Roaming Restriction (CSRR) feature provides for additional fraud protection within the HLR by enabling allowed roaming areas to be specifically defined for each subscriber. The CSRR defines 8 portfolios with up to 256 VPLMN ranges.

The service provider establishes the actual definition of each VPLMN range. The subscriber chooses the areas in which service should be allowed or not allowed through updates through Customer Services. If a subscriber enters an area where service is prohibited or not authorized, the HLR will deny the subscriber's registration.

The HLR maintains a list of 8 CSRR portfolios in which the subscriber is either allowed or denied service. The CSRR is positive (service is allowed only in the areas listed). A subscriber may choose one of CSRR portfolios or just select "No Restriction" to disable this function.
