Descriptions

As a value added entity of the UltraWAVE system, the SMSC is integrated in the MSS (Multiple System Server) along with the MSC, AAS, HLR, AUC and PPS servers and implemented in the UltraWAVE network. It supports delivery of mobile originated (MO) and mobile terminated (MT) short messages, stores undelivered messages for later delivery when subscriber phone is temporary unavailable, and provides short message notification to prepaid subscribers and voicemail subscribers.

The SMSC supports both ITU SS7 and IS-41 protocols. It can be deployed along with the UltraWAVE system or standalone to connect third party device. In a UltraWAVE network, the SMSC is deployed in dual server load sharing mode to assure high efficiency and stability.

Each short message supports up to 160 characters (Latin alphabets) or 70 characters (Chinese or Arabic). The SMS uses signaling channels only. The messages transmit simultaneously with the voice/data/fax service over a GSM network.
